Professional synthetic strings with a warm, balanced sound and an excellent price-to-performance ratio.

Karneol strings offer warm, well-balanced, velvety tones and are adding warmth and texture to your sound. They feature a synthetic core and typically require about three days to reach full tuning stability and optimal tone quality.

Both metal core and synthetic core A strings are available. The synthetic A string blends seamlessly with the rest of the set. However, aluminum or hydronalium-wound synthetic A strings are less durable than their metal core counterparts, which is why we offer both options.

Viola strings are available in two sizes:

• Medium vibrating length: 14″–15″ (36–38 cm)

• Long vibrating length: 15″–15.75″ (38–40 cm)

Please note: We refer to vibrating string length, not body size. For instruments with an exact vibrating length of 38 cm, we recommend selecting the medium size.

To avoid damaging the strings, it is essential to choose the correct size based on your viola’s vibrating string length (the distance between the bridge and the nut), not its body length. Our experience shows that most violas fall into the medium size category.

The 2026 Karneol update introduces new packaging and refined sound, while keeping the same reliable character and price players appreciate.
